A little clarity

Questions are
a good beginning.

Here are a few things you might be wondering.
You are welcome to bring your own questions, too.

Do I need to be good at art?

No art experience is needed. You might begin with a few marks, a colour, a shape, or a conversation. The focus is on your experience of making and what it means to you, rather than the finished artwork.

What if I don’t know what to say?

You don’t need to prepare a story or know exactly what you’re feeling. We can start with a conversation, a material, or a small creative invitation. There is room for quiet, too.

What happens in a first session?

We begin with what brings you here, what you hope for, and any questions you have. Together, we discuss whether this approach fits your needs and agree how to work, including privacy and its limits. There may be a gentle creative invitation, with time to reflect and decide on a next step.

How much does a session cost?

Session fees, length, and first-conversation details are listed on the booking and session pages. Details still awaiting confirmation are marked. Please confirm the full fee, currency, and cancellation terms before agreeing to an appointment.

How is this different from an art class?

An art class usually focuses on learning techniques or making a finished piece. Here, creative exploration sits within a therapeutic relationship: we pay attention to your experience, feelings, and what matters to you. You don’t need to make something beautiful or explain every mark.

Can I enquire on behalf of my child?

Yes. We start with a parent or carer conversation about the young person’s needs, age, and whether this approach is suitable. Before sessions begin, we discuss consent, the young person’s involvement in decisions, and what is shared with parents or carers. Please check the accepted age range in the session details before arranging an appointment.

Is what I share confidential?

Before therapy begins, Alja will explain how session information and artwork are handled, who may have access, and the limits of confidentiality. For a child’s sessions, this includes what parents or carers can expect to hear. You can ask for clarification before deciding to begin.

Can I join from another country or have sessions online?

Please review online availability and eligible locations in the session details. Being able to meet by video does not mean sessions can be offered in every country. Your location, a suitable private space, and whether this format fits your needs need to be discussed before an appointment is agreed.

What languages are available?

Session languages are listed with the practical details. If a language is not listed or the details are awaiting confirmation, please ask before arranging a session so you can choose a space where you feel able to communicate comfortably.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no fixed number promised here. Your reasons for coming, preferences, and how the work feels can guide a conversation about frequency and review points. You can ask about the proposed plan and costs before deciding whether to continue.

What if the approach doesn’t feel right for me?

That is worth talking about. You can ask questions, decline a creative invitation, or discuss a different way of working. A first conversation is a chance to consider the fit together, including whether another kind of support would be more appropriate.

What happens to the artwork I make?

Artwork can feel personal. Before you begin, ask how it will be stored, whether you can take it home, and how any photographs or digital copies are handled. The sketchbook artwork on this website is Alja’s own. The labelled lifestyle scenes are AI-generated illustrations, not photographs of clients, sessions, or the practice’s premises.

Small beginnings count

You don’t have to have
it all figured out.

Just a little curiosity. We can start there, together.
